Brandon, MB -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/12/2018 -- Having data all in one QuickBooks company file is what's commonly buzzed about when the size of a file is relatively large.
How large is too large? In theory, there is no limit to the size of a file, but in reality, you are getting into a danger zone in QuickBooks Pro and Premier when you get to around 150MB. QuickBooks Enterprise is more robust and starts to max out around 1GB. A bitter pill to swallow, however, is that large files can be slow and tend to be corrupted much easier.
"The supercondense service brought my file size from 2GB to under 500 MB and increased speed 10x. If you have a slow Quickbooks file, you need to Super Condense it," said a satisfied customer Lana S.
QuickBooks does include a condense feature. Condensing is the most cost effective way to reduce the size of a too large QuickBooks file. If condensing doesn't work, or if it doesn't reduce the size of the file enough, there are other options. "So what do you do when the cards are stacked against you, and you find no other solution to the problem? Super condensing a file just may be the solution," says Diane McDonald, Technical Services Manager.
E-Tech recently announced a new service to combat slowing speeds and performance on files. The SuperCondense File Service works by reducing file sizes from 50-80% of the original file size, resulting in increased speed and transfer time.
"There is a clear misunderstanding of the different versions of Quickbooks Pro, Premier, & Enterprise. The word Enterprise can be misleading, sometimes leading people to think that the software is too big for them when in fact it may be a perfect fit. This software is not designed for Mid-Large corporations, it's perfect for Small Businesses," according to Diane McDonald.
"QuickBooks Pro and Premier have exactly the same file size limitations. They talk about lists being limited to 14,500. This number makes no sense to most and we have found an easier way to determine if you have outgrown your software. Simply press F2. Is your file size 100,000K or higher? Then you have outgrown the software," he added.
"QuickBooks Enterprise can handle your data file up to 1,000,000k comfortably. If you grow higher than this, you can either use a third party file shrink service or you will need to move to a different product."
