SmartKage Set for National Launch

40 Units Readying for Q4 Rollout

Boston, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/22/2014 -- Six years in development, SmartKage, the future of baseball player evaluation, is set to install the first 40 units of a 160 unit nationwide launch.

In what it calls the equivalent of a “Physical SAT™” parent company SmartSports has developed the first quantitative technology system and network that measures specific athletic performance for baseball and softball players. About SmartSports/SmartKage

Each one-hour SmartKage session yields up to 75 performance metrics for baseball and softball players. The patented proprietary technologies are completely invisible to the user; there are no wires, markers or sensors on the athlete. Performance data is captured in real time and used for player development, identification, college recruiting and professional scouting.

“This has been an incredible journey that could not have come to fruition without a remarkably dedicated group of experts and partners.” said SmartSports co-founder and CEO, Corrine Vitolo. “ We are delighted to bring these advanced technologies to market – that which was heretofore limited to elite Major League Players is now available to amateur, collegiate and pro athletes across the nation.”

SmartKage’s impact was recently proven at two pilot locations where results vastly exceeded expectations. Moreover, some of the nation’s leading baseball players and instructors praised the system and the invaluable information it provides.

SmartSports Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Larry Scannell said the Company has confirmed 15 of the first 40 installations scheduled for installation in the 4th quarter. Additional information will be provided based upon manufacturing schedules. Each location represents the very best of the nation’s indoor sports training facilities.

“As we have been developing the SmartKage technology in conjunction with some of the foremost sports technologists and leading authorities in the game, including several Major League teams, concurrently we have gone through a very rigorous vetting process selecting only blue-chip locations to represent the SmartKage brand,” said Scannell. “When all 160 locations are in place, virtually everyone in the contiguous United States will have access to SmartKage.”

During its developmental process SmartSports has partnered with the nation’s leaders in the field of sports. Rawlings Sporting Goods, the number one Baseball brand worldwide whose 125 years of product innovation has changed the game.

SmartSports has also partnered with Sportvision which, in conjunction with Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM), has permanently installed its PITCHf/x pitch tracking system in every MLB stadium as well as SABR (Society for American Baseball Research) best known for its development of “Sabrrmetrics” and advanced baseball statistical analytics.

Additionally, SmartSports works with Major League teams in each of the six divisions as well as 3,600 colleges and universities.

“SmartKage provides comprehensive performance analysis in pitching, hitting, fielding, catching, running and agility,” added Vitolo. “It can be used for instruction, player development, recruiting and scouting. Our product sits precisely at the intersection of sport and science. By creating ‘big data’ intelligence and efficiencies, we are bringing America’s pastime into the future.”

Vitolo said that while the company holds a number of patents for its technologies, the Company is in the process of preparing additional filings.
