Solar Light Company Now Featuring PMA2144 Class 11 Pyranometer on Website

Glenside, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/17/2014 -- Solar Light Company is pleased to announce they are now featuring the PMA2144 Class 11 Pyranometer on their website. Pyranometers are used widely for measuring the full solar spectrum. They are based on thermopile technology for broad spectral sensitivity with exceptional flatness and long term stability. The Solar Light Company’s PMA2144 is an ISO-classified Class 11 Pyranometer. It has a precision optical glass dome allowing the full solar spectrum to pass through to the sensor. It also protects the sensor from the elements.

Heating of the sensor through solar radiation, which is a high-quality blackened thermopile, produces a signal in the µvolt range. Every single pyranometer features its own calibration factor and is programmed into a memory chip in the sensor due to the processing algorithm. The algorithm is put into the meter and the proper reading is displayed on the LCD when connected to the PMA2100 data logging radiometer.

Thermopile type sensors can be used to monitor the total solar radiation, along with artificial sources, because they show the widest and most uniform spectral response. These sensors are limited due to sensitivity, as measurements of radiant flux below 10 W/m2 are difficult.

Solar Light Company also sells a Class 1 Pyranometer which has a better temperature coefficient and better cosine response. This means it is less dependent on temperature fluctuations and has a more accurate response when measuring light at low angles.
