Wichita, KS -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/25/2018 -- Coleen Suffield, owner of South Seneca Car Care, has received a tribute from the Kansas House of Representatives for "Decades of Service to the South Wichita Community," that honors her decades of commitment to the community.
"I chose to stay on this side of town because so many of my customers have been with me so long they are like family," said Suffield. "I couldn't bear the thought of leaving this side of town."
The auto repair center opened its doors in July 1986. Suffield has chosen to remain in South Wichita and operate her business there despite the economic hardships the area has experienced over the years. She also has a strong desire to protect customers that can easily become targets by predatory vendors.
One such demographic is the elderly who are on fixed incomes and have difficulty even getting to the car repair South Wichita business. Suffield often provides transportation services for her elderly customers to and from South Seneca Car Care.
Another group that Suffield cares deeply about is the single mothers who aren't mechanically inclined and know nothing about car repairs. During the 2017 holiday season, Suffield launched an initiative with O'Reilly Auto Parts and other local charitable organizations to provide 31 single mothers and widows with a free oil change. A single mother of four, she remembers how tight money was while raising her own children and understands the unique needs of women in a similar position.
