Maplewood, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/17/2014 -- There are many reasons why many people have eye problems nowadays. One obvious cause of blurred or total loss of eyesight is eye-strain – which is common nowadays because people are spending too many hours behind the computer screen.

Whatever the cause of the problem, it would be more prudent if people started focusing on how to improve their eyesight naturally. The following advice enlightens persons on the fastest ways to improve eyesight.

How To Improve Eyesight

1. Give The Eyes Some R&R

Give the eyes a rest once an hour during workday. One should actually rest the eyes at least 15 minutes for every one hour spent in front of a television, computer or reading. However, if the eyes feel overly tired, it could be necessary to lie down and rest for a while.

On the other hand, getting enough sleep is equally important to improve eyesight. Enough sleep allows the eyes to fully rest, recover, and repair while lack of enough sleep weakens the strength of the eyesight. Therefore, one should shoot for 8 to 9 hours of sound sleep a night.

2. Maintain A Healthy Diet

Eyes need multiple nutrients to function optimally – as a well maintained diet tends to improve eyesight. Foods which help in eyesight improvement include (but not limited to) strawberry, banana, citrus fruits, apple, all bright-colored fruits, and bilberry fruit. Consuming leafy green vegetables such as chili peppers, carrots, and broccoli will also help in improving the eyesight naturally.

Eating foods rich in fish oil, vitamin C, A and E, zinc and copper may also help improve the eyesight. Caution is however recommended when changing diet as drastic changes in eating patterns may be detrimental to normal functioning of the body.

3. Eye Exercises

Simple eye exercises will help improve eyesight by keeping those annoying eye floaters at bay. These exercisers should be performed any time the eyes feel fatigued, before bedtime and in the morning. Committing to daily practice will result to better eyesight improvement within one month. Such exercises include;

*Massaging the temples using the thumb knuckles 20 times but in two different directions.

*Warming the eyes through rubbing the palms together to create heat and then placing them against the eyes for at least ten seconds.

*Taking a mini-nap by closing the eyes and putting the head back for at least 3 minutes while relaxing.

*Rolling the eyes 5 times anticlockwise and 5 times clock wise slowly.

Last but not least is focusing on an object at a distance for about 30 seconds. One may look at a person, tree, or a house by just sitting somewhere relaxed.

These are just but a few of the tips that one may consider utilizing to maintain proper eyesight.
