STPL Global to Launch Africa's First Mobile POS Solution moPOS by Christmas

Lagos, NG -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/06/2014 -- In a statement issued by CEO Palash Bagchi, STPL Global will be launching Sub Saharan Africa's first mobile POS, mPOS solution in 17 African countries.

moPOS aims at providing convenient point of sale systems on smart phones. Merchants will now be able to accept Visa and MasterCard even if they do not have a stationery shop or a storefront. Moreover, when compared to traditional POS systems, merchants will qualify for a moPOS with a much lower threshold of monthly transaction.

Palash Bagchi says that it will not be long when one will start seeing bus conductors accepting card payments, small time merchants selling on streets, one's neighborhood tailor, vegetable vendor, fuel stations, and more will all start accepting card payments. This will be a revolutionary movement in African countries where cash is still king, and governments are trying to frame favorable policies to reduce the circulation of cash, which is highly expensive and dangerous.

moPOS will come with a small pocket size device that will pair with the merchant's smart phones. moPOS mobile app will be available on Android Play store within 2 weeks from now, while an iOS app for apple devices is still under development.

moPOS is the real convergence of industries like technology, banking and telecommunications. All the 3 players will jointly contribute to the success and will reap benefits in terms of larger card issuance and acceptance, larger Internet bandwidth usage, and larger technology reaching the masses.
