London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/06/2016 -- A major study recently conducted has found that after moving house, for the first six months people are a lot less likely to drive to work, increasing the chance of them being green commuters.
The study involving 18,000 UK residents found that just after moving house people are significantly less likely to travel to work by car, instead opting for greener modes of transport such as bus or bicycle. This change in behaviour is most definitely opening up a window of opportunity for policy makers to promote greener travel, something in which we could all benefit from.
The results from the study showed that environmental attitudes did in fact play a large part in some of the decisions to opt for alternative methods of transport, but also a major factor contributing to this was the changing ways of 21st century life. When people look for new homes now, they consider their place of work and how they are going to be able to get there, selecting homes with good transport links and connections – often eliminating the need for a car completely.
Because of this, a number of people moving home now sell their cars before their moves, then opting for professional removals companies such as Top Removals to assist in moving their belongings from A to B. This can often be the best method of moving as unnecessary stress will be avoided and a fresh starts allowed.
A spokesperson from Top Removals was keen to comment saying: "It is great that more people of taking up greener methods of transport and we are extremely happy to assist these people to moving homes, not only in London but also nationwide."
