Boston, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/16/2014 -- Weather conditions gave a boost to sun care sales in 2013 as temperatures remained high till the end of October allowing the holiday season to be prolonged. Yet the key factor behind the good performance of sun care has been the rise in the tourist influx. Political unrest in North Africa, Turkey and the Middle East resulted in a rise in foreign tourism in 2013, given that neighbouring countries did not feature as prominent holiday destinations.
L'Oreal Hellas SA led Greek sun care for 2013 with 26% of value sales. The company markets the brands Vichy Capital Soleil, La Roche-Posay Anthelios, L'Oreal Sublime Bronze (Ex-Solar Expertise), Garnier Ambre Solaire, Biotherm Sun and Lancome Soleil. With a wide portfolio comprised of brands that enjoy good and solid brand recognition from consumers, it is not surprising that L'Oreal maintained its leadership. The company invests heavily in promotions with in-store advertisements, such as separate stands for its lines in the stores, posters in pharmacies and with advertising in women's and/or health magazines. The company's pharmacy brands (Vichy Capital Soleil and La Roche-Posay Anthelios) are also frequently prescribed and suggested by dermatologists and pharmacists for sun protection.
