Singer-songwriter Thanai has come to the U.S. to continue developing his music career and has followed his dream to numerous awards and accolades, including a featured track on WiFi PR Group’s upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 6, and he’s releasing a new single, “Ocean,” and its video in September.
Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/18/2014 -- Since the age of 11, vocalist and acoustic guitarist Thanai Phornphong has been attached to his guitar and immersed himself in music ever since, building the foundation for the successful and award-winning music career he now enjoys. This summer, his song, “You Never Know,” will be featured on WiFi PR Group’s upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 6, and he plans to release his latest single, “Ocean.”
To create his rich, vibrant sound, Thanai draws musical influences from the classical guitarist John Williams as well as John Mayer, and his music is most often compared to Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews. He’s often inspired by good movies, good and bad relationships, friendships and people in his life and other varied emotions he’s gone through in life.
While he has released several albums over the years, his latest album, Summer Sky (2013), was his first English album, and before that, he had never written an English song in his life. These English songs, particularly “Let Me in Your Dream,” were one of the reasons why he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream and music career.
Thanai has had a number of notable accomplishments over the years. His song “Let Me in Your Dream” was No. 1 on All Charts and Rock Charts on HomeGrownHits.com, and two songs, “Our Lies” and “Cigarettes” were chosen by listeners to be in the top 10 and ended up winning the Home Grown Hits for the Holiday Song Contest. The acoustic version of “You Never Know” was No. 1 on Pop Charts for HomeGrownHits.com and No. 2 on All Charts and was also one of four winners of the Kick-ASCAP-2 Song Contest.
His track “Forgive Me” received Honorable Mentions in the Singer-songwriter category by West Coast Songwriters International Song Contest 2013. The rock version of “Let Me in Your Dream” was selected by the International Songwriting Competition 2013 as a semi-finalist in three categories, Rock, Adult Album Alternative and Unsigned Only. Thanai was also chosen as one of eight artists to perform live at Grammy U Rock the Mic Unplugged in 2012.
As for the near future, Thanai plans to release his new single “Ocean” and its video in September 2014.
Thanai’s song, “You Never Know,” will also appear on WiFi PR Group’s upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 6, a collection of international independent talent spanning a wide range of genres who WiFi wants to put on the radars of music lovers and industry tastemakers the world over. Set to be released at Toronto’s NXNE this month, the digital mixtape will be handed out on 3,500 download cards to festival attendees, and 1,500 more download copies will be made available via the Indie Anthems Bandcamp page.
