The Clark Hulings Fund Launches First Web-Based North American Visual Arts Calendar

Groundbreaking online clearinghouse crosses genres and movements, and unites all sectors of the visual art industry

Santa Fe, NM -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/27/2016 -- The Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists (CHF) announces the official launch of the first web-based North American visual arts calendar (clarkhulingsfund.org/events), a comprehensive online tool that provides a central listing for events and opportunities offered by all sectors of the art world.

Unlike other calendars, which segregate listings based on art genre, style, location, and/or type of sponsoring institution, CHF's calendar includes all visual art movements and styles, and all manner of industry gatherings and opportunities—from museum exhibitions, art-business conferences, and events staged by arts organizations, to collector salons, artist-organized shows, and application deadlines for grants, competitions, residencies, etc. Searchable by date, location, and keyword, the calendar also includes events that feature those working artists who are part of CHF's Business Accelerator Program, as well as the organization's partners, and members of its advisory board and grant-review panel. This first-of-its-kind resource officially debuts on June 27, 2016, following a soft launch in February of this year.

The calendar is a natural extension of the nonprofit's mission, which is to help working artists succeed at the business of art, and to knock down the walls that isolate them from collectors, gallerists, business experts, and other members of the industry. Events organized by arts organizations, art-business specialists, collectors, and professional artists will be listed alongside those sponsored by high-profile institutions, promoting the kind of interaction and knowledge-sharing that benefits the entire arts community.

Through its Business Accelerator Program, CHF helps working artists become successful artist-entrepreneurs, offering them business training and tools, networking opportunities, targeted funding, and PR outreach. By featuring their events in this shared virtual space, the fund provides working artists with a visible platform, as well as information about grants, competitions, and other means of direct support, and a listing of gatherings where they can meet and network with potential clients, industry experts, and organizations that exist to support their work.

The fund welcomes listings from all members of the visual arts community, particularly arts organizations that are interested in partnering with the nonprofit to co-promote their events via CHF's various channels, such as its e-newsletters and social-media feeds. If an event serves the fund's broad constituency, it will be included in the calendar. "With this accessible web-based resource," says CHF Director and Co-Founder Elizabeth Hulings, "we're democratizing the art business by circumventing the gatekeepers and facilitating communication among those branches of the visual arts community that have historically been kept in their own silos."

About The Clark Hulings Fund For Visual Artists
The Clark Hulings Fund (CHF) helps professional visual artists compete in an increasingly complex marketplace by providing them with strategic business support and targeted financial assistance, regardless of the styles or movements in which they work. CHF also brings together artists, collectors, curators, and other industry experts to share knowledge and build an artistic community that benefits all.

The fund was established in 2011, in memory of Clark Hulings, a nationally acclaimed American painter. Hulings understood that no matter how great an artist's talent, the door to success swings on financial pegs, and on an artist's ability to seize and exploit business opportunities as they arise.
