The share of North American countries (US and Canada), in the total American retail sales, is expected to decline from nearly 80% in 2006 to less than 70% by 2016. Retail sales in the US have expanded just around 2% annually since 2006 till end of 2011.

The combined share of Brazil and Mexico, in the total American retail sales is expected to increase from under 15% in 2006 to nearly 20% by 2016. This is broadly driven by a double digit annual growth in Brazil.

The US, Canada and Chile, respectively, occupy the top three ranks in terms of per-capita retail spend in the region in 2011.
