Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/24/2016 -- The Mummers held their annual Mardi Gras parade in Philadelphia on February 20th, 2016. This Mummers parade in Philadelphia, held by the production company ADVENT, gave guests a chance to get up close and personal with some of the finest members of the Mummers, the Philadelphia string band association. Many different entertaining string bands marched through the streets of Manayunk to give spectators a performance they won't soon forget.
This parade allowed Philadelphia natives to celebrate Mummer history as they also celebrated the coming of Mardi Gras. During the Philly Mummers parade, there was a total of 17 Mummers string bands who performed from 11 am to 6 pm. Some of these string bands included the Woodland String Band, the South Philadelphia String Band, the Quaker City String Band, the Uptown String Band, the Aqua String Band, the Broomall String Band, the Polish American String Band, the Avalon String Band, and the Pennsport String Band.
This parade was a daylong celebration that provided entertainment and excitement for Manayunk and also generated exposure and raised money for the Mummers in Philadelphia and their future events. Fun activities were held for the whole family, including face painting, photo booths, and more.Spectators had the pleasure of viewing beautiful costumes with a Mummer twist.
