Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/06/2016 -- As every month passes, the Mummers Mardi Gras parade gets closer and closer. The past parade from earlier this year was a roaring success, and the entire Mummers team cannot wait until next year's event. They won't have to wait long now, as the event is only a few months away. In fact, the date for the next Mummers Mardi Gras event is Saturday, February 18th, 2017 (rain date February 19th, 2017). This daylong Philly Mummers celebration is presented by ADVENT, an advertising, events and entertainment agency.
The Mummers Mardi Gras parade offers the people of Philadelphia a chance to get up close to some of the finest Mummers in the business - the String Band Association. This past year's event welcomed 17 string bands, who paraded down Main Street in Manayunk playing upbeat music while dressed in colorful, elaborate costumes. Some of the bands included the Trilby String Band, the Woodland String Band, the Uptown String Band, the South Philadelphia String Band, the Greater Overbrook String Band, the Pennsport String Band and more.
This event not only provides excitement for people in Manayunk but also creates exposure and raises money for one of the oldest and greatest traditions in Philadelphia, the Mummers. People can feel free to enjoy the many activities that take place during this event including photo booths, meet-and-greets and photo opportunities with the Mummers themselves, face painting and more.

ADVENT first produced Mummers Mardi Gras in 2014 with the support of numerous sponsors and entertainment. The event was developed to keep the Mummers in the spotlight throughout the year, and create a new tradition in the process.
