London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/18/2015 -- Re-housing homeless people is hard at the best of times, but now a legal battle is brewing between London boroughs and neighbouring towns. London has been forced to house people who go to the Council in housing outside the capital.

Waltham Forest Borough Council have had the most complaints after housing 57 families in Luton. The towns have claimed it is putting a strain on their resources, but the Council argue their hands are tied to due benefit caps and increasing prices in the private rented sector. Further lack of housing availability has also meant that people have become homeless quickly and then need to be placed in either emergency housing, or available housing in other towns.

With the number of homeless households currently at 2,000, it's no surprise towns are feeling strained. Other figures released showed a huge 156 families from Barking and Dagenham have been re-housed in Thurrock. The infrastructure of some towns is potentially beginning to struggle due to the high numbers of re-housed homeless people moving to their boroughs.
