The United Illuminating Company (UI) is a US-based power utility. It is a subsidiary of UIL Holdings Corporation. The company undertakes purchase, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity. UIs transmission network consist of over 100 circuit miles of overhead lines and 28 circuit miles of underground lines, operated at 345-kV or 115-kV. The company's distribution system comprises 27 bulk electric supply substations with a capacity of 1,886 megavoltampere (MVA) and eight distribution substations with a capacity of 42 MVA.
