Dozens of clinical studies have shown the efficacy of UVA and UVB phototherapy on psoriasis and vitiligo. Blue Cross Blue Shield, one of the nation's largest health insurers considers it the frontline treatment for psoriasis. DuaLight is easy to operate, and can be quickly mastered by physicians, nurse photo therapists and photo technicians. The system's patented square aperture hand piece design offers clinicians an unobstructed view of the area being treated. Hygienic disposable tips are used to prevent cross-contamination between patients.

The DuaLight system offers several advantages over other treatment options currently on the market. Since it uses a high-pressure mercury vapor arc lamp rather than a more typical Excimer Laser, light coverage is far more even, with no hot spots. It offers higher performance at a lower cost, with psoriasis plaques typically clearing in just four to six treatment sessions.

UVA/UVB phototherapy works by shining UV radiation onto skin, which reduces the immunosuppressant effect of the skin and helps ameliorate conditions including psoriasis, vitiligo, alopecia, eczema and seborrheic dermatitis. Previous treatment options required exposing the patient's entire body to UV radiation, which can have harmful side effects, and limits the possible duration of treatment.

Skin affected by psoriasis and other conditions can withstand far greater doses of UV radiation than the non-affected skin, a more targeted approach can clear conditions by using higher doses, reducing total treatment time.

The DuaLight system uses a 19mm square tip that is placed on the intended treatment area, greatly limiting exposure to surrounding skin. It is believed that limiting exposure to non-treated areas of skin reduces the potential for skin cancers.

This allows for more aggressive treatment of affected areas, which, in turn, leads to fewer treatments before clearing, fewer doctor visits, improved patient satisfaction and overall lower medical costs.
