Schwan-STABILO is an international group of companies that is entirely devoted to the world of writing utensils. In 1865, Gustav Schwanhäußer acquired the company Großberger & Kurz. Since that time the “Schwan Pencil Factory” has become a global corporation that meanwhile is owned by the family’s fifth generation. In business year 2012/13 the group achieved turnover of € 534 million. From the beginning the focus has always been on innovative products and manufacturing processes. One legendary example is the first indelible pencil to write in color, which was introduced in 1875. 1927 marked the launch of cosmetics products with the eyebrow pencil, which sold like hot cakes among women. Another sensation was the introduction of the “STABILO BOSS” highlighter in 1971. To the present day, this “reading aid” has remained the world’s best-selling highlighter.
