This is the second book written by Deanna Martinez-Bey. It focuses on Janine, a character that was introduced in the first installment "Twinkle, Twinkle Christmas Star". "When Life Gives You Lemons, Drink Coffee" is told from the perspective of Janine in her funny southern humor. This story tells a tale of love and betrayal and reveals many valuable lessons of life.

About the story

Janine is from Triple Creek (located in the Southern State of North Carolina). She is a smart and sassy southern girl who knows what she wants and goes after it fearlessly. Her goal of marrying the man of her dreams becomes a reality when she marries Tom Whitfield, a successful business man. She also became the owner of a bakery. Her life appears perfect until she experiences the onslaught of certain unexpected events that rock the boat of her life. These events challenge her beliefs and change her destiny permanently.

Tom gets an unexpected promotion and his new job requires him and Janine to make changes in their lives. Being newly wed, Janine has to muster a lot of faith to make the decision to move from Triple Creek to supporting Tom's career. This challenge pales in comparison to the threats she faces when she discovers some of Tom's darkest secrets. She learns a lot of valuable lessons in New York. Though she makes new friends in the new city, she misses her family and friends whom she has left behind in North Carolina. To her dismay, she discovers that unpredictability of love always accompanies new challenges. After experiencing challenges and events that shock her, Janine feels betrayed by the people she trusted most.

Deanna Martinez-Bey, the author of the book, is originally from New Jersey but she is now residing in Raleigh, North Carolina. She started writing when she was just 7. Initially, she was writing poetry and short stories. She says she now enjoys writing novels, self-help books and cookbooks. She now writes for Examiner.com and has also been featured on the "Taste of Home" magazine, Taste of Home "Best Of" cookbooks, Gooseberry Patch cookbooks, local publications and on Women's Day online.
