Tummy Time Books: First eBooks Released Specifically for Tummy Time with Baby

Imagined by Audrey Taylor, this innovative series of hand-painted, black and white picture books are the perfect accompaniment to ‘tummy time’.

Napa, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/02/2014 -- Created by Audrey Taylor in 2012, ‘Tummy Time Books’ is the first of its kind – an eBook series dedicated to encouraging baby’s eyesight and brain development during ‘tummy time’. Known as the best way for babies to develop core strength, limb coordination and head control, ‘tummy time’ is vital for baby’s continued healthy growth and is attributed to helping prevent SIDS.

“It’s never too early to start reading with your baby,” says Taylor, who was inspired to begin the series while enjoying family time with her own two children. “To me, family reading time is essential – it’s fun, gets kids learning and interacting, and helps babies focus on new objects and fine detail. In short, it’s one of the best things you can do for your children.”

In a series of three e-books, ‘Tummy Time Books’ feature high contrast images and bold watercolors, perfect for grabbing baby’s attention… and keeping it!

“The best part is that parents can really follow along with these books and make them their own,” says Taylor. “I encourage parents to point at the pictures, mimic movements and sounds, make up songs, create stories and really put their own spin on what they’re seeing. Not only does this stimulate creativity within children, but it also doubles as a bonding experience between care-giver and child.”

As Taylor realizes, tummy time can be a struggle at first.

“Of course, like anything, it often doesn’t take on the first try!” says the author. “What I suggest is that parents do a bit of research at first and speak to their pediatricians. During tummy time, it’s best to place the baby on his or her tummy to play while the parent supervises. Introduce your baby to tummy time as early as three weeks old, depending – and start with five-minute sessions per day. Some babies won’t like this activity, but I caution parents not to be discouraged – it takes a lot of work to move around and develop those muscles, so they should keep at it!”

Continuing: “With the eBooks at hand, it makes it easier to capture baby’s attention and keep him or her interested in the activity. It’s a fun and simple way to make tummy time the best time of the day.”
