Vaseline Is Called a Slippery Slope for Softer Facial Skin

Scottsdale, AZ -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/19/2018 -- Many women are jumping for jelly --  touting Vaseline as the best kept secret for keeping facial skin soft, but one skin care expert warns not to go "gaga" over this topical goop.

"I would not recommend this as a main form of skin moisturizing," said Natalya Borakowski.  The Scottsdale, AZ. aesthetician acknowledges that Vaseline helps to trap water in skin.  However the product contains petroleum, which is very toxic to humans.  "It is oil based and can be absorbed readily into deeper tissues.  This can cause health complications in susceptible individuals."

There is an increasing number of women who are turning to "slugging."  It involves using large amounts of Vaseline, which is slathered across faces just before bedtime.  Many women are calling the method a life changer, waking up in the morning with skin as soft as a baby.

"Slugging is definitely not a gimmick.  It absolutely allows water to be trapped within superficial skin layers and can help prevent extremely dry skin from becoming damaged or infected.  But I would still not recommend this as a main form of skin moisturizing."

Borakowski says there are better forms of treatment available for women with thin, dry, and fragile skin -- including natural remedies.  "Shea Butter, Cocnut or Jojoba Oil are much better choices.  Botanical Healing Salves containing medicinal herbs such as calendula, plantago, yarrow, camomile, and other natural ingredients are much safer alternatives to Vaseline."
