London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/27/2014 -- Many Tahir Abbas Facebook followers have had their travels disrupted on Thursday 23>rd> January as wet concrete flooded the control room of Victoria Line, which runs through Central London. Instead, travellers were advised to take trains on the Northern and Bakerloo lines, while some replacement buses were in use to shuttle passengers along the disrupted section of the track. Transport for London has commented that contractors were working near the control room at the time, using the concrete to fill voids while upgrade work continues on the line.

Engineers worked continuously throughout the twenty four hours that followed the flood and connections of Tahir Abbas LinkedIn profile will have been relieved that the section of track that was closed between Warren Street and Brixton, reopened on the following morning. London Underground did make attempts to reduce disruption as much as possible through this period, as in addition to the replacement bus service, customers were advised on the quickest way to make their connections. For instance, those travelling out of London on Network Rail only had to walk the five minutes to St James’ Park Station and catch a District line train to further destination. Furthermore, bus operators were advised to accept train tickets from the aggrieved passengers.

Readers of Tahir Abbas publications will notice that this flood has come only two weeks before the RMT Union are to go on strike. Their strike action is in response to London Underground’s plans to close all ticket offices, at a loss of 750 jobs. The union has issued a statement on the back of the disruption in which they reinforce the idea that ‘directly employed public sector staff are necessary in terms of running the underground railway.
