VitaBreeze Donates in Support of Rheumatoid Awareness Day

Portland, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/06/2014 -- There seems to be a day for everything under the sun, and most go without notice. One such day is Rheumatoid Awareness Day, a day set aside for those who suffer from this potentially crippling disease. Rheumatoid Arthritis, RA, is an autoimmune disease that attacks the joints of the body. Lack of adequate treatment is potentially debilitating to the point of complete immobility.

Many are quick to dismiss RA as nothing more than simple arthritis, but the sufferers will certainly say otherwise, as would the physicians who help treat the disorder. It is such an epidemic that a special day has been set aside to help raise awareness for sufferers.

This special day was Feb. 2nd, Super Bowl Sunday, so the majority of the support was sadly buried within the media. This is a shame, considering the sheer number of people who suffer.

“There is approximately 1.8 million people with RA in the U.S.,” said Michelle O’Sullivan, spokesperson for VitaBreeze, “and we feel it is only right to help those in need.”

There is no cure of RA. The best physicians can do is to help relieve symptoms and make daily living bearable. Some behaviors, like lifestyle changes and exercise can help as well. Many also look to supplements for assistance.

Some choose to take certain supplements, particularly those that contain Glucosamine and Chondroitin, to help manage RA. Each of these elements is believed to help the body with inflammation and protecting cartilage.

VitaBreeze sells these supplements through their store, but to support those who suffer from RA, they took it a step further. While many of us were mesmerized by the Super Bowl, the people at VitaBreeze were donating a percentage of each sale made that day to the Arthritis Foundation.

“It may seem minor to some, but to those afflicted, it was a blessing,” said O’Sullivan.
