Harrogate, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/14/2015 -- Leading fabric company, The Remnant House, have recently commented on the story of a 16 year old girl from Winshill, Olivia Dickinson, who has taken up sewing as therapy for her rare illness.
The condition called Addison's disease, means the body doesn't produce cortisol, a hormone which performs a number of essential functions. Without it, exhaustion sets in, making it tough for people with it to take part in many activities.
Olivia Winshill was diagnosed in 2013, and since then has had to give up her dream of becoming a swimmer. For therapy she has taken up sewing, and it has helped a great deal in coping with the disease. She used her new found skills to create her very own dress for her high school prom.
Often commenting on industry news, a spokesperson for The Remnant House said, 'Sewing is a great way to relax, a hobby many would benefit from undertaking, and it's great that Olivia has found something which can put her mind off her illness, and on to something she enjoys doing.
At The Remnant House we sell a range of fabrics so anyone can take up sewing as a hobby, and create designs unique to them!'
