World Book Day Draws Attention to the Rising Popularity of Sewing Fabric

Harrogate, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/23/2016 -- World Book Day falls every year on the 3rd March and involves the celebration of a valued form of information – the book. A number of events take place in schools, with many children encouraged to dress-up as their favourite book character; thousands of schools taking part this year.

Significantly boosted by this popular event have been the sales and levels of interests in sewing and crafting materials, in an attempt to make costumes. It is thought that this level of interest will continue to be sustained as more families realise that crafting and sewing can be enjoyable family activities – not just a once a year occasion.

World Book Day is just one example of how a broader spread of the public is interacting with sewing resources this year. Valentine's Day was another example of increased crafting engagement and it is anticipated that many families are making plans for Easter also. It is thought that this focus on crafting is driven by the public who want to engage with something other than the 'digital age'. It provides an intimate, interactive recreation ideal for families – something craft leaders and industry experts The Remnant House was keen to comment on:

"It is brilliant to see an increased attention when it comes to sewing and crafting as family activities. After all, taking up sewing projects need not be for a particular occasion; they can be rewarding in themselves. That is why we offer a wide selection of materials; there is the prospect of something for everyone."
