Smoking Tobacco in Turkey - New Market Research Report
Turkish people like to frequent water pipe cafes to share water pipes with friends and socialise. However, the Turkish government banned smoking in public and enclosed areas from 19 July 2009. As a result, many water pipe cafes started to close. Mainly during the winter months, they lost many customers. Some cafes opened balconies covered with cloth-curtains which are not considered enclosed areas. However, it is costly to heat such places, thus not all cafes could afford it.
