Sweden's consumers basked in optimism after the country's robust recovery from the global economic crisis, but more recently they have become increasingly nervous as the eurozone crisis has blunted demand for Swedish exports, weakening the job market. Regardless, Swedes enjoy excellent public services as well as generous welfare entitlements and long holidays and these benefits have cushioned the impact somewhat. Indeed, in 2012 consumer expenditure per capita increased by nearly 2%.
