Credit cards continue to take share from store cards, with both types of cards offering similar advantages to consumers. Some store cards have interest rates as high as those of credit cards. Store credit cards frequently start-off with low introductory interest rates that increase up to 20% or more after a short period of time. Norwegian consumers understand that the benefits they receive from store cards can be rapidly abolished by reducing interest rates.
