The Bolivian government established price margins for rice in 2011 which remained in effect in 2012. This has severely impacted innovation and advertising for rice. Furthermore, there are also limitations on exports discouraging companies even further. There are quotas that companies must fulfil in order to be able to export rice. As a result, there was no innovation or advertisement promoting the growth of rice in Bolivia.
