The cheese market is still quite small in Nigeria and depends largely, though not exclusively, on patronage by expatriates living in Nigeria. But with increased westernisation and the fast growth of modern retail channels of supermarkets and hypermarkets, the category is increasingly popular amongst Nigerians. The modern channels, which have better ability to store and preserve cheese, are making available a variety of brands in the market.
