Argentina's economic growth slowed in the first quarter of 2012 to the lowest since 2009, as import restrictions undermined industrial output and a drought affected the country's soybean harvest. Official data shows consumer prices rose by 11% in 2012; however, unofficial figures indicate that real inflation is at least twice that rate. The consumer mood was also dampened by rising inflation, undermining spending potential on alcoholic drinks.
