Recent Study: Bottled Water in Portugal
Economic constraints impacted consumers heavily towards the end of the review period, with 2012 seeing a second year of real GDP decline, rising unemployment, static wages and rising taxes and prices. Consequently, many consumers switched from bottled water to water filters, with these enabling them to drink filtered tap water at a considerably lower cost in comparison to bottled water. This trend was also encouraged by environmental concerns, with many seeking to reduce their use of packaging.
