Both off-trade volume and off-trade value sales of tea registered growth in 2012. Retail value sales, in particular, managed to grow well as consumers looked for more individual tea flavours and high-quality speciality products. This trend towards more premium tea was a major driver of growth and even the low consumer confidence in the economy and worries about their personal financial future did not limit the growth of premium tea.
