Luxury writing instruments remained one of the most popular gifts for special occasions in Italy. Such products enjoyed strong consumer acceptance. However, the impact of the economic crisis hampered the performance of luxury writing instruments in 2012. Even though affordable luxury within writing instrument drove value sales, the category recorded a decline in value terms in 2012 due to lower consumer demand.
