Bottled water remained a strongly performing category in 2012 and registered solid 9% total volume growth and 16% total value growth. The large variety of brands and economy prices remained the main factors behind the category's strong expansion among all income earners and such products becoming common among urban households. The category is also being introduced among rural households who can now regularly afford to buy bottled water, particularly for babies and the elderly.
