New Market Study Published: Wine in Venezuela
In 2012, the wine offering was greatly affected by an issue of availability of foreign currency. With 2012 being an electoral year, the government focused on ensuring basic food imports, leaving aside wine importers in the allocation of foreign exchange. According to a company source, importers did not have the financial structure to meet payment commitments with international wine suppliers for which the volume shipped to the country in 2012 was below that of previous years.
