In spite of the Egyptian Revolution of 2011, Egypt maintained its position as the second key player in the pharmaceutical industry, after Turkey. Egypt is expected to witness substantial expansion in the pharmaceutical market for a number of reasons, including continued population growth, the spread of non-communicable diseases (diabetes, cardiovascular diseases,) and the widespread use of generic products, making drugs even more affordable.
