Domestic tourism flows continued to increase in Germany in 2012, rising from less than 197 million in 2011 to almost 204 million in 2012. Many different factors contributed to this positive development, the most important of which was the growing popularity of city trips/breaks. Not only the country's largest cities (Berlin, Hamburg and Munich) benefited from this trend but also most other mid-sized cities (between 100,000 and 1 million inhabitants).
