Recently Released Market Study: Cigars in Kenya
Kenya does not have a strong tradition with regards to cigar/cigarillos smoking. Due to the high unit prices of these products, cigars are unaffordable for most Kenyans and sales tend to be driven by tourists and some high-income consumers. In 2012, cigars thus remained a niche area within tobacco, recording value sales of just KES500 million - a 7% increase from 2011.
