The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services suggests that an average person should get about 2 1/2 hours of moderately intensive exercise each week. In addition, a recent National Runner's Health Study of 15,045 subjects found that walking lowered the risk of high blood pressure by 7.2%, high cholesterol by 7% and diabetes by 12.3%.
