Chocolate confectionery will grow by 8% in current value and 6% in volume terms in 2013, due to an increase in the purchasing power of consumers, innovation from incumbent firms and a low per capita consumption base. This behaviour is part of a more general trend, where volume grew 5% in 2012 and 9% in 2011. Despite this significant growth rate, Colombian annual consumption is still very low in comparison to other Latin American countries, at just 260g per head.
