As the economic downturn extended beyond expectations in 2012, and household budgets could not support non-basic purchases, a sudden drop in sales resulted. 2013 did not see such drastic cuts in consumption of air care, but the growth rates were still quite unfavourable for the category. Air care, making up about 6% of total home care sales, is one of the first segments to be declared by consumers as non-essential and easy to live without.
