More than 90% of Russia's vegetable harvest is grown on open ground, so the Russian vegetables market is highly dependent on weather conditions. With poor storage conditions post-harvest, Russian vegetables are dependent on imports during the off-season to keep the market stable. Imported vegetables equate to around 30% of total sales.
