Russia's egg market is mainly comprised of chicken eggs, which form the majority while duck and quail eggs are exotic egg choices. The Russian egg market is self-sufficient, with imports limited to 2-3% of total volume sales, which makes it different from other agricultural sectors. The share of battery farms in total production is closely approaching 80%, increasing annually by 1%.
