UK travel and tourism benefited strongly from a rise in economic confidence at the end of the review period, as the UK economy and that of many other countries around the world saw a stronger performance. Growth in domestic trips, inbound arrivals and outbound departures was thus good in the year. Growth is also being driven by effective marketing from VisitBritain, which is successfully capitalising on growing interest in the UK in the wake of the 2012 London Olympics.
