Economic downturn in Finland coupled with the political-economic situation in Russia affected the Finnish travel industry in 2014. A decline in Russian tourists to Finland in 2014 was shown also in a decline in sales of travel services such as lodging. At the same time, Finns cut their domestic travel or, at minimum, looked for savings by staying in free accommodation, for example.
