ETT is a tube embedded into the trachea for the administration of anesthesia, maintenance of the airway passage, aspiration of secretions, ventilation of the lungs, and anticipation of the passageway of foreign material into the tracheobronchial tree. There are two types of ETT for anesthesia management: the orotracheal tube and the nasotracheal tube. The orotracheal tube is embedded through the mouth into the trachea and the nasotracheal tube is embedded through the nose into the trachea.
