Sedation-Dentistry: Safe-and-Effective. If the child needs specialized dental-treatment, sedation-dentistry may be beneficial. Different kinds of sedation-dentistry are available to accommodate the specific needs. All options are comfortable and will help the child be calm and relaxed. Types of sedation dentistry offered:
Laughing Gas (nitrous oxide), I.V. Sedation, Conscious Sedation (oral sedation) and General Sedation (standard numbing). In addition to providing comfort, sedation dentistry calms fear. The child won't be as afraid to come to the dentist if they experience less pain. The skilled staff will work with the parent to determine which type of sedation is best for their child.
The need for emergent-care can often be avoided with safe-practices during sporting events. They are happy to teach the parent and children a number of things they can do to help them protect their teeth and gums. Regular cleaning and maintenance services will help prevent tooth decay which can cause damage and painful infection. Wearing a mouth guard during sporting events is one way to protect those important teeth and ensure they stay put while playing your favorite game. With both of these preventive measures effectively in place, they can help the child avoid emergent trips to the dentist.

About Tyler Reading D.M.D.
Dr. Reading loves pediatric dentistry and genuinely enjoys interacting with the children and helping them have a fun and comfortable experience. He is appreciative of the opportunity to get to know children and their parents at their earliest dental experiences. "Kids are great patients. We try our best as a dental team to make sure our environment here at the office helps them have a fun, positive dental experience where they can build a good foundation for years to come."
Dr. Reading and his wife are both natives of West Jordan, Utah. They were married as Tyler finished up a Spanish degree at BYU. They then lived in Cleveland, Ohio for 4 years to attend dental school. After completing dental school they moved to Rochester, New York where Dr. Reading completed two years of specialty training in Pediatric dentistry. With 5 young children it's hard for Dr. Reading to get a lot of time to himself. In those rare moments he enjoys running, golf, working out in the yard, and date nights with his wife. With his family Dr. Reading enjoys swimming, camping, and drive-in movies.
