Contact lenses are still regarded as something of a luxury, affordable only to higher-income consumers, due to the perceived long-term cost compared to spectacles. Growing disposable incomes in the country are increasing the affordability of contact lenses to consumers though, albeit still a minority. Demand is also rising as many find contact lenses look better than spectacles. This is especially true for people suffering from refraction error, where spectacle lenses are thicker.
