Bread remains main food present in Chilean homes and covers every socioeconomic segment. Chile is the second-largest bread consumer in the world. However due to lifestyle changes to the adoption of healthier lifestyles consumers are looking for choices with less sodium and low fat among other health benefits. The government has agreed with local manufacturers to reduce the level of sodium in bread by 50% until 2014.
