Despite the second consecutive year of growth, the consumer health industry remained in a recessionary mood, judging by the actions of companies. The industry is generally considered as a stable one, resistant to external shocks of the economy. However, after deteriorating sales during the recession, firms turned to pricing as the chief tactic for competing. As a result, promotion campaigns that lasted for entire months and sometimes included the whole assortment were used to lure shoppers.
